I finally met my business partner, Cory Shanes, in person for this episode. We’ve been working together for the past few months on our new blog Building a Brand Online and our private group coaching teaching people how to use WordPress Blogs and Social Media.

Within minutes of picking him up at the airport… the shenanigans began.

As always, there’s a ton of firsts within this episode.

  1. southern california sunset California Adventures Part OneWatching a movie in the car while driving (questionable at best)
  2. Shenanigans at Del Taco
  3. Building a Brand Online Fire Sale
  4. Professional filming with the Sony HDR-FX1
  5. Discovering the Honda Element has removable seats
  6. Getting kicked out of Barnes and Noble for filming
  7. First ever InspirACTION commercial
  8. Giving $100 to the Nouvelle Vie Youth Corps
  9. Traveling to a destination without a place to stay
  10. First ever InspirACTION preview
  11. Coincidentally, the first video I’ve created over 10 minutes!

If you haven’t seen the Vegas video – its certainly a must-see! I teamed up with fellow video blogger Sam Dever aka SJD from SJD TV and RhyMen.com and shot one hell of a ridiculous adventure! (there’s even a bonus video you may not have seen the first time around at the bottom of the page) Be warned! You might actually vomit! Ha!

Pulling the stickers off the Del Taco window was rather immature – but in the end… “Maturity is being in control of your level of immaturity,” which is something that I talk about extensively in a post about maturity I created some time ago.

The following day, Cory and I shot the Fire Sale video for the Building a Brand Online contest where we gave away $100 to the person with the “best comment” expressing their biggest frustration in social media. Without question, Avian Morales, “The Man Who Cannot be Moved” destroyed the competition with his video response in the form of a rap! Congrats Avian!

While the Fire Sale was in full effect, Cory and I teamed up with my buddy Matt Stiles to do some professional style filming with the Sony HDR-FX1 at a number of various locations. Matt’s got some great experience in videography as well as a knack for music production. You can find some of his work on his profile over on Soundcloud. If you’re into Dubstep there’s some real sick shit on there!

After Matt left, Cory and I headed over to the local Barnes and Noble to do some filming in there – and found out the hard way you can get kicked out for filming inside of establishments. I shoulda known better. Regardless, we fled the scene.

I had a purely un-anticipated InspirACTION when I discovered that the seats in my Honda Element were fully removable! I thought they only folded up?! It may not seem like much – but I was certainly excited haha!

I also shot and created my first commercial ever. I tried to make it as TV-esque as possible and I think it turned out great icon wink California Adventures Part One Circumstance, and the Universe drove me to fill the spot here on InspirACTION with something completely different though. Our buddy Steve, from the Forgive Steve video just had open heart surgery last week and I wanted to take the time to dedicate our prayers and thoughts to his fast and safe recovery! I’ve got the commercial for ya below!

So! Many of you probably want to know who I have decided to donate the $100 to from the Forgive Steve video! There were something like a dozen or 14 different suggestions for charities or organizations to donate to – which actually made the decision pretty difficult!

I ended up deciding that I would donate the $100 to the Nouvelle Vie Youth Corps suggested by Melissa Ternier. I felt a connectedness with this organization after going through their website, and also felt like it made sense to continue what I’d begun when I made my first personal monetary donation when the earthquake struck Haiti.

Altogether, this episode is my favorite to date! Well… maybe second to the Journey to the Top of the World – but thats totally different icon wink California Adventures Part One

You can only guess the trouble that Cory and I got into once reaching California – more shenanigans! And! We didn’t have a place to stay when we got there… which proved to make the trip more interesting than anticipated.

Oh, and this is the first video I’ve ever created a preview for the next one as well as going over ten minutes… There was SO MUCH FOOTAGE it was impossible to fit into one video. Preliminary edits on this one had it over 18 minutes so you can imagine what all got cut out icon wink California Adventures Part One

I’ll deliver on the next one!
