Journey to the Top of the World – Part Two

In Part One of the Journey to the Top of the World – I embarked on an incredible journey to capture footage for Ridley Scott’s movie “Life in a Day” premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011.

He’s collecting footage from around the world shot by potentially millions of people capturing their life in a day. He’ll select footage for his film and include everyone who shot footage as co-directors in his movie.

I thought to myself, what better to share with the world than an incredible Colorado sunrise from the top of the world?

So I did it, I climbed through the darkness on a solo mission to beat the sun into the skies. I met some friends along the way, and ended up collecting footage for the 45 minute time lapse you’ll find in the video above.

What an epic experience! Of course, I’ll have to edit the music out in order to comply with the contest rules, but the submission is here in all its glory Enjoy!

You can find the original footage here before we had to manually edit out a black dot from the sun. Guess the camera couldn’t take the light!

Glad somebody noticed the epic timing of the music Right from when it started “I'm racing the sun” to when it paused with the orange glow – and then erupted as the sun rose through the clouds.

The black dot appeared when I switched from the Kodak (which ran out of storage space) to the Flip… guess it couldn't handle the brightness!
